From Waste to Wonder: San Beda & Klaypel Launch PAPERoar

Updated: Aug 27

Last April 3, 2025, San Beda University Manila became the starting ground of a powerful sustainability movement as the San Beda Junior Marketing Association (SBJMA) launched their pilot program, “PAPERoar.”

The initiative is simple but impactful: paper waste collected around the San Beda campus will be turned over to Klaypel, where it will be upcycled into its signature eco-friendly art medium. By breathing new life into discarded paper, PAPERoar not only reduces waste but also transforms it into something meaningful and creative.

Joining hands with Klaypel in this effort is Prestige Papers, another strong advocate of sustainability. Together, the organizations form a collaborative partnership with SBJMA to show how industries, students, and innovators can make a difference through collective action.

Inspiring Talks on Sustainability

Two inspiring leaders shared their vision for a greener future during the event:

  • Leah Ayeng, CEO of Prestige Papers, spoke about how their company integrates sustainability into their paper solutions and corporate practices.

  • Anjela Morales, CEO of Klaypel, shared Klaypel’s journey of turning recycled paper into art and how sustainability can go hand-in-hand with creativity and community impact.

Their talks resonated with students, reminding everyone that sustainability is not just a business practice—it’s a responsibility.

A Student-Led Effort

At the heart of PAPERoar are the passionate student leaders of SBJMA, who, guided by their mentor Mr. Greg Borja, spearheaded the event. Their initiative demonstrates how young leaders can spark real change when they combine vision with action.

Roaring Towards a Greener Future

The PAPERoar program represents more than just recycling—it is about turning waste into worth. With the combined efforts of SBJMA, Klaypel, and Prestige Papers, this initiative paves the way for more creative and sustainable collaborations in the future.

San Beda’s PAPERoar is just the beginning. And like its name suggests, it’s a call that echoes beyond campus walls: to rethink, reuse, and roar for sustainability.
